抱負・夢

北海道から世界へ：がん薬物療法をupdateし、最先端医療を届ける

現在、日本人の2人に1人ががんに罹患し、その中でも進行消化器がんは最大の難敵です。私たちは「北海道をがん治療の後進国にしない、世界の先進国へ押し上げる」という強い信念のもと、全国規模の新薬開発治験や国際共同試験にどこよりも積極的に参画し、最先端の新薬が、日本で最初に北海道の患者さんに届く環境を追求してきました。現在、私の所属する化療Gは北海道大学病院腫瘍センターと消化器内科が一体となった連携体制を敷いており、日々の研究を即座に臨床へ還元する臨床研究とTRを推進しています。この強固な基盤のもと、私が主宰・協働する臨床研究グループ「北海道消化器癌化学療法研究会（HGCSG）」は、北大化療Gを中心に、IRIS＋BV療法を世界・本邦のガイドラインへ掲載させるなど、数々の歴史的エビデンスを創出して来ました。こうしたグループ全員の情熱は、現在、世界の消化器がん薬物療法のトップグループと言える圧倒的な実績として結実しています。当Gが参加し、私が皆を代表して責任著者または共同著者として紡ぎ出した業績は、インパクトファクター30を超える世界のトップジャーナルだけでも20本以上に達しています。

これらトップジャーナルに名を連ね続けている事実は、私たちが地方の一研究グループに留まらず、世界のがん臨床研究を牽引する強固な実力を有していることの何よりの証明です。

【私の抱負・夢】次世代とともに、世界の頂点へ

私自身、気がつけば大学でも最古参の立場となりました。これまで培ってきた国内外のネットワークと知見を礎に、今後も引き続きグローバルな国際共同治験や臨床試験へ先陣を切って参加し、北海道に最新の医療を呼び込み続けます。そして、私の次なる大きな夢、それは「この化療Gから、世界のpivotal studyの筆頭著者を誕生させること」です。当グループには、それを成し遂げられる優秀な人材と、世界と渡り合えるだけの実力がすでに備わっています。若い先生方が世界の舞台で主役となり、次世代の医療を牽引していけるよう、私も全力で道を拓き、グループの皆とともに一丸となって夢の実現へ突き進んでいきたいと思います。
